The cinnamon and nutmeg combined with the apples and pears makes for the ideal warm and tasty breakfast that feels like a treat. I love this at breakfast with my oatmeal. It's also a nice addition to dinner. If you're feeling decadent, spoon it over a bowl of vanilla ice cream.
We serve it with for a warm and filling breakfast at the retreat. Use your choice of apples. I recommend going organic if you leave the skins on. For extra deliciousness and health benefits, add a cup of chopped nuts of your choice. We use East Texas pecans. You can also substitute Pumpkin Pie Seasoning for the spices.
Ingredients
- 5 apples
- 5 pears
- 1 Tbsp coconut oil
- 1 cup dried cranberries
- 1 Tbsp cinnamon
- 2 tsp nutmeg
- ½ tsp clove
Prepare
- Dice apples/pears into medium pieces.
- In a large sautee pan over medium heat, melt coconut oil.
- Add diced apples and pears, and stir to coat.
- Stir in dried cranberries, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Cook on low for 20 minutes.
