Over the last two years, while we’ve spent time perfecting our own little habitats - our homes, our gardens, our closets - many of us have become disconnected from our community. Working remotely, activities canceled or virtual, moving to a new place - any of these factors would take a toll on feeling connected to our community. All together the fallout is devastating. While staying home living vicariously through social media leaves us disconnected and wondering how to find that connection again.

The need for connection and community is primal, as fundamental as the need for air, water, and food. ~Dean Ornish

How do we move past the lingering isolation of the pandemic to our fundamental need for connection and community? Sometimes it’s easy to find in our day-to-day routines – work, school, kids birthday parties, etc. Other times, we have to make an intentional effort to connect and build community with others – usually by stepping outside of our comfort zones.

Last month, eight of our Retreat Leaders gathered for what was intended to be a relaxing “training” weekend and an opportunity to get to know each other. It became so much more -  what all of our retreats are about: connection and community. There was laughter. Tears. Hugs. Contact information exchanged. Our Sunday morning Gratitude Brunch was filled with joy. We had arrived as strangers or acquaintances. After a meaningful weekend spent together in community and connection, we left as friends.

Community and connection are the reasons we host retreats. Attending a retreat for the first time may feel like a step out of your comfort zone. But nervousness is replaced by excitement when you realize you’re surrounded by a group of women who, a lot like you, have shown up for themselves. You won’t find judgement or criticism here. Instead,  kindness and words of support and encouragement will bond you together – even if just for the weekend.

If you’re seeking community and connection, I invite you to join us for a retreat. You’ll be welcomed by one of our friendly Retreat Leaders. You’ll enjoy conversation and laughter with like minded women. You'll appreciate delicious home-cooked meals.

The love, respect and encouragement that surround you are what make Retreat in the Pines different from other yoga retreats. You belong here.
