Theresa Polley
Chack back soon!
Theresa Polley

Since starting Retreat in the Pines in 2004, I’ve found joy in doing what I love. There have been challenging years along the way. The connection with and gratitude from women from all walks of life keep me going when things get hard. I’ve heard, “Thank you for creating this place–I needed this” countless times over the years. Women's wellness is my passion. I'm committed to giving ALL women a safe space to share their stories and connect with each other. A pink slip from a job I loved was the catalyst that led to my journey of entrepreneurship.

When I started the journey of Retreat in the Pines, I was focused on the healing power of yoga. I've been teaching since 2004. I currently teach classes in the Dallas area plus offer private lessons. While I still believe yoga is a powerful practice of transformation, I believe the true healing happens when women sit next to each other and discover they are not alone in their struggles. We come from different backgrounds and places, and seemingly have nothing in common - yet we have everything in common - we are navigating this crazy world as women.

Every time I host a retreat, I’m reminded how crucial it is to have a safe space dedicated to women. Community and connection are what makes our retreats a truly magical experience and sets us apart from other retreats. There is nothing more profound (and needed), than women who come as strangers and leave as friends.

I realize life is too short to not be fully present in every moment. For the sake of my sanity and my health, I priortize fitness classes and community. I find both at my local Y. The Dallas YMCA has been a part of my life for over 30 years.

I have three adult children plus one still at home. They bring me so much joy. My oldest Nina and I love to travel together and one of our favorite activities is hiking followed by a delicious meal - preferably something breakfast related. She is married to her wife Spencer and they are proud dog moms of three adorable dogs. I’m grateful to have my daughter Eden back in my life after she spent years facing struggles of her own. She is married to her husband Randy and they have three special children. My son Landry recently moved back from Colorado. Even better he and his girlfriend have one year old Daisy and they live very close to me.

My youngest Mason is in third grade and loves to play soccer. As a single mom he keeps me on my toes, but I wouldn't change a thing.

I (finally!) realize the importance of downtime and self care. As often as I can, I start my day with coffee, a guided meditation and journaling. This simple act allows me to gain perspective and be intentional about my day. If the weather is nice, I’m on my front porch. In addition to staying active; time in nature, reading and streaming “comfort” shows gives me the reset I need to keep moving forward.
