The first yoga class I can remember taking was back in high school inside a dank dark room of the local rec center. I wore socks. The teacher told me that I shouldn’t wear socks. How embarrassing!! But that was when I knew I loved yoga. Also, I knew I wanted to make sure to never make someone feel embarrassed to do it. So, feel free to wear socks in my class!
From then on I practiced yoga off and on before finally becoming certified to teach in 2017. By that point, I had experienced way to many yoga studios and teachers who were unwelcoming so I quickly decided to open my own studio, The Yoga Casa (TYC).
At TYC, I welcomed people of all shapes and sizes. The Yoga Casa was a safe haven for all yogis. I loved building that community for five long and lovely years! After the studio closed I moved on to my next adventure where I went back to my roots (my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work.) I became a feminist coach who helps women become the confident, self-assured people I know they are.
At home, I live with seven other beings. My partner in crime (husband), my life giver (mom), my life suckers (three amazing kids), my peace maker (the dog) and my patience tester (the cat). It is a crazy life but we love it. When not running around with kids you will find me listening to a book for my monthly book club, drinking copious amounts of hot beverages, laughing at “Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me” or walking the peace maker around the tree lined suburb of Fort Worth where we live.
I joined the team at Retreat in the Pines after attending a retreat myself! I had such an amazing experience of rest, relaxation, and joy. Talking with other women and sitting on the porch listening to the wind in the trees…how can I explain? It was exactly what I needed. It was an amazingly healing, happy and necessary experience. I can’t wait to facilitate a similar experience for you. See you soon in the pines.
